Raw Silat

The recommended martial course for Security training as most counters are open handed but also have the option of simply restraining the opponent or destroying them. This is a choice we often have to make on the job and many times we regret our choice by either worrying it was too over the top or we could have done better- resolved it sooner etc. In the response training of Raw Silat many Security related scenarios are covered.

Modules for civilian training include-

Lightening Hands of Silat- This builds the speed, accuracy and awareness of the practitioners body and controlled responses through relaxation. What most styles call ^Techniques^ we call drills; as everything is progression all drills are put together for responses, responses are then thrown in and jumbled up , the practitioner learns to swim instead of getting taken under and drowning.

Devastating Elbows - Elbows in Silat are used in what other systems call BLOCKING- Our approach in the HARD form of Silat is that if the opponent puts something out (such as an attack) we smash it –
(remember you always have two options – so therefore of course both approaches are taught for balance) -
The elbows are of course used for attacking/responding with close quarter counters in hectic situations. The angles, flows and drills are not often seen in other arts- Not even the Filipino arts.

Locks & Restraints
All restraining tactics are practical and effective for security and of course civilians alike in a situation where they may have the need to restrain someone – This is said with full confidence as it has been taught to security networks and professionals and at a professional level internationally for the past few years. The practitioner is shown the do's and don'ts of restraints realistic control tactics.

Traditional and Stereotypical locks and restraints are shown and examined for the weaknesses, variables and dangers. Simple Locks which mainly control the balance of the opponent are those which are most used – In the beginning; mainly shoulder & knee locks to quickly extinguish any further possible attacks.

Throws & Grappling
Throws are always simple and RARELY ever require force or strength on the practitioner's side. Tactics always involve either simply passing or smashing the attack, keeping out of danger (with possible on coming attack) whilst getting to a position which is unbalancing and awkward for the opponent and then simply reaping the balance with a simple strike or redirection – at a slightly later stage of training a lot of takedowns are done by simply moving in and busting the knees and angles as you strike/attack. It gets VERY brutal as the next level is dealing with weapons and multiple attackers.

Response Training – Dealing Unarmed attacks, Armed Attacks & Multiple Attackers with all variations of standing, sitting, leaning etc. Training with progression to respond effectively to any attack showing fluent responses and variations demonstrating the ability to take one of either option; either simply disable the opponent from further attack you OR destroy them!!! In this module we develop the output of the practitioner by progressively working on response drills. In short, the attack/counter ratio is 1/3 in the beginning (for example if the opponent attacks once – you respond with a 3 beat counter; that could mean 2 beat pass and strike or pass, redirect, control to the restraint... many variations! ) and works past 9 beat counters. The objective is to train the practitioner to become fluent in responses, even if committing to a response and countered half we through the practitioner learns to continue to flow. This training helps develop the awareness, deception and approach for Security staff especially as they learn that where there is a will- there is ALWAYS a way to success or escape/change when, where and or if necessary.
